AREA-WIDE PACKING EVENT-A HUGE SUCCESS !

Over 200 volunteers from 18 churches in the two associations joined together over a four-day period in mid-November  and packed over 128,000 meals that were delivered to the children of Haiti.

At the beginning of 2013,  churches in the Area were challenged to begin raising funds to host a packing event, sponsored by Lifeline Christian Mission, a ministry from Ohio.  A number of the Disaster Relief men from our two associations became related to that organization through the Haiti earthquake in 2010....and subsequent disasters in that country.

In the eleven months of fundraising, participating churches, and individuals contributed over $34,000 to the cause.

Packing sites were set up at First, Stockdale (Nov. 14-15) and Flatonia (Nov. 16-18) for volunteers from the association churches to come and "assemble" the ingredients that made up a nutrious meal.  Ingredients that were mixed together included rice, dehydrated soy flour, dehydrated veggies, and minerals and vitamins.  Each packed bag would provide six meals when cooked.

Volunteers included young and old alike:  Children from Memorial Heights church in Gonzales---and from the Union Valley Christian Academy in Union Valley---a youth group from First, Sutherland Springs---students from the BSM at Texas State University---and adults of all ages.
